Tiger Nation Baseball includes the three baseball teams fielded by Cleveland Heights-University Heights High School. The three teams include a Varsity team, a Junior Varsity-A team and a Junior Varsity-B team. While the website focuses primarily on the Varsity team, the coaches and players realize that success at the Varsity level requires a program that develops younger talent into tomorrow's Varsity stars. And so, during the interscholastic high school season, the website will include a page dedicated to the Junior Varsity-A team and the Junior Varsity-B team. If family or friends of JV-A or JV-B players want to contribute pictures to a photo gallery for one or both of the JV teams, inform the website administrator and he will make arrangements to add a JV photo gallery to the website.
With a multi-million dollar upgrade to the buildings and other facilities of Cleveland Heights High School, the "on campus" home field of the Heights Tigers baseball teams, including Varsity and Junior Varsity A & B teams, is being re-built. The field is being relocated further back from Cedar Road, the main artery running in front of the High School. The scoreboard (pictured here) has already found its permanent home to the right of dead center field. This year's Tiger Nation Baseball teams are chomping at the bit to get out onto the new diamond as soon as it is completed and available for game play in 2019.
Last season's Varsity baseball team, a combination of returning upper classmen with a few exceptionally talented freshmen and sophomores, was considered very young by some. The 2019 season for Heights Tigers Varsity baseball will again feature a relatively young, but certainly more experienced, team than last year's. This year's Varsity roster is made up of five seniors, five juniors, four sophomores and a freshman. All of the returning players saw significant playing time in the 2018 season. The co-captains for this year's Varsity team are senior outfielders Sean Murphy (#3) and Donovan Clayton (#8), and senior pitcher/first baseman Justin Rink (#11), seen here conferring with catcher Ethan Swain during a game in Florida over the team's 2018 spring break trip.
